Re: Record Name Changes Here!

I was Christian A., and I am now Striped Leopard! My sig explains some of my thought process behind that. =) Basically, just like it's impossible for a leopard with spots to become striped, it's impossible for someone whose nature is to be enslaved to sin and evildoing to become good by nature. And ...

Re: Creationism or Evolutionism.

No. I am saying that there are a multitude of examples of things that can be perceived that way, and yet we know God does not lie/deceive, so these things must be interpreted some other way. I feel like you are just saying that to provoke me, but I will respond, nevertheless. Carbon-14 dating is oft...

Re: Creationism or Evolutionism.

I see no reason to believe that the DNA would not have appeared to be older than it was. Same with the tree rings. The very existence of both is enough to imply a false history. The existence of a chicken implies there was an egg. And yet we know that God used supernatural means to create it without...

Yes, and why would you assume that God created Adam and Eve as fully formed humans? That gives the impression that they were once babies and then grew over time into adulthood. God would not so obviously deceive our senses.

I think what Jesus meant to say was, "No one is good--except God alone, along with Mary and all of the saints and anyone else who does good things."

Re: Is man basically good, or basically evil?

Others have very different interpretations of those verses. Are they illogical? In fact, earlier, you spoke about the translations you "regularly use." Do you use them because they line up entirely with the original text? That's true. They aren't necessarily illogical, but I feel that the...

Re: Joel Osteen

This is one of those rare occasions where I entirely agree with 11th. =P I think Mr. Osteen has done much more harm than good as the leader of the largest church in America. He makes promises to people that are not based on the Word of God, and he is very negligent in presenting the full gospel on h...

Re: Is man basically good, or basically evil?

I will be honest and say that I'm not sure. Believe it or not, this is something that I've struggled with. I believe that every creation of God brings glory to Him just by living and breathing, merely because they are His creative handiwork. In that sense then, every blink brings Him glory and is th...

Re: Is man basically good, or basically evil?

11th: Good question... You're right, I don't agree with the "if necessary, use words" part, because the Gospel is the truth about Jesus, something you can't sufficiently explain by any other means than using words. But.... I suppose I wouldn't have a huge problem with it. Jesus did good t...

Re: Is man basically good, or basically evil?

Yes, I would. As long as there weren't any restrictions that kept me from striking up conversations with people and potentially sharing the gospel with them. Yes, I believe that even when we are saved, we still have the propensity to be influenced by the remnants of "the old man" and we wi...

Re: Is man basically good, or basically evil?

We've had this discussion before, and you know where I stand on this; that's why I was trying to direct this conversation in a slightly different direction. But I will answer your questions nonetheless. No, I don't believe the deed in and of itself is evil. But multiple places in the Bible we are to...

Uh, you could do the courtesy of reading the whole post, so "Lol" to you, sir. Kaida already quoted that, and I refuted. Feel free to refute my argument, though. In fact, please do. Oh. Yes. Lol to me. I am thoroughly humbled now. For some reason, I only saw the first part and your respon...

Re: Is man basically good, or basically evil?

The first verse has no bearing as it is before the flood. Also, it is speaking general not as a declaration with no exceptions, since God spared Noah. Lol, your comment has no bearing because Genesis 8:21 says the same thing after the flood, even though it's now only Noah and his family who are ali...

Re: Christian vs. Catholic

You're missing the point, GratiaDei. The Pope is infallible and inspired in his theological proclamations, therefore there does not need to be any Scriptural support. The Pope is just as authoritative as Scripture, in the Catholic tradition. That's why so many of their teachings can't be found in th...

Re: Christian vs. Catholic

a member named Christian said with a straight facet that the Pope is the Antichrist (Christian, if you're reading this, one has to wonder how on earth you bought that.) Wait... I did? *goes back to check* EDIT: I guess I did post something from someone who held that view. I don't think I meant to a...

Re: The Rapture..

I don't think there's much evidence at all for a seven-year period of heightened tribulation. I think Christians are undergoing tribulation now. We don't experience much at all in America, so we wouldn't understand, but think about all of the severely persecuted Christians in China, Korea, and Musli...

Don't be racist. Be like Mario. He's an Italian plumber created by Japanese people who speaks English and looks like a Mexican. And runs like a Jamaican. And jumps like a black man. And grabs coins like a Jew.

Re: The Rapture..

Okay. Yeah, I see where you're coming from. All that stuff about Jesus taking His followers before the judgment of the wicked I think can be explained this way: There will be a rapture, but it will be directly before the Final Judgment. Christ's people will go to be with Him, while He executes judgm...
