Town council to investigate the ethical practices of the ethics committee
The town council voted 4-1 to create a
committee to investigate the ethics of the ethics committee after intense
debate. The ethics committee has been under suspicion lately after an
investigative Odyssey Times article exposed that the committee has only
discussed ethics twice in the last two years.
The council debate mainly involved Ryan Porath arguing that the ethics
committee should be trusted to investigate itself, while Candice Jackson
argued with equal intensely that a "non-biased third party must be
appointed." The debate proved to be the most passionate since the council
argued about creating the original ethics committee two years ago.
The Investigation into the Practices of the Ethcial Committee (IPEC) will be
nominated at the next town council meeting and will be required to give an
annual report. Porath commented after the meeting that he wouldn't be
surprised if the council were electing an Investigation into the Practices
of the Ethcial Committee that Investigates the Practices of the Ethical
Committee (IPECIPEC) next year.
