Novacom buys BTV, sells BTV
After announcing only a few days earlier that it would now
be producing the popular BTV variety show, Novacom announced yesterday that
it had sold the show back to Bernard Walton, the original producer. Arthur
Dent, speaking on behalf of Novacom, cited "creative differences" between
the company and Walton, who is also the star of the show.
Walton, who also runs a janitorial service in town, said,
"We just had different ideas about what the show should be. Too bad it
didn't work out, but the quality of the show will still remain." Both Walton
and Dent decline comment on the specifics of their disagreements. The studio
construction and casting were already underway when the two parties
dissolved the contract.
BTV has aired for years on local television, taking over a
Saturday morning slot vacated when the long-running family show "Soapy
Waters" went off the air. The variety show soon became one of the most
popular locally produced programs. Each show is shot at various locations
around Odyssey, including the mall, Foufou's Obedience school, and even the
town dump. The show's trademark is it's wacky humor and fast-paced sketches
that illustrate Biblical principles.
