Novacom announces donations to local institutions
Local media company Novacom Broadcasting
announced yesterday its plan to begin donating computer hardware to
institutions around Odyssey. The company says the donations are to improve
the community and get them up to date technology-wise. "In the modern age
that we live in, it's important for everyone to have access to the latest
technology," says Arthur Dent, general manager of Novacom.
One of the biggest donations consists of more than thirty computers for the
Odyssey public school system. "At Novacom, we encourage children to do their
absolute best in school. And we want them to have the absolute best tools to
work on," says Dent. The computers are Promax 2000s, capable of running
advanced graphics, animation, and sound manipulation programs. An additional
lab was added to the Middle School library to accommodate the machines.
The donation has encouraged other local businesses to contribute to Odyssey
schools. Edwin Blackgaard announced that he would be performing Hamlet for
students in the next month and handing out free signed photographs of
himself. Bart Rathbone said that he would donate all of his damaged
merchandise to the science department to use for experimentation.
