Local Gardener wins National Award
Gloria Filgengeister, a local gardener and
pet lover, recently won the Most Prickly Rosebushes Award from the Prickly
Rosebush Society of America. "It's about time I won the award," says
Filgengeister. "I've entered the contest for twenty-six years running."
Filgengeister's rosebushes can be seen on 2482 Main Street, just down the
road from Whit's End.
"My only request to the public is that they keep their kids out of my lawn,"
she says. "I've spent years on those rosebushes and the worst thing that
could happen would be that a little child would come along and trample
them."
