First off I'm going to say that I think this was an
amazing episode. Its one of my personal favorite adventures in odyssey
episodes. I love the way Kathy Wierenga wrote this episode and the way
she portrays, in her writing, Connie's character. I also love how she
puts Nick in this episode in the "friendly" kind of "advice giving"
person. There were times when Connie was sort of half talking to Nick,
and half talking to herself, and Nick was there to add small funny
remarks. (Like when Connie told him that Mitch's feet don't smell, Nick
said "What!!" like: I can't believe you actually notice stuff like
that!) I think the fact that Nick was in this episode added a lot to the
overall effect. Great Job Kathy!
About Connie, I think she was a lot like "herself" in this episode. For
example when Mitch forgot his briefcase. While she was trying to catch
him, Nick spilled all his stuff on the floor. At first Connie was
telling him not to "snoop" but after a while when Nick found the photo
of this really pretty girl, as always, Connie's curiosity got the better
of her! And the next thing you know, she's trying to get him to show her
his hand in some way. (she even asks him if he wanted a manicure! in my
opinion, that is definitely something Connie would do!)
Another way Connie was a lot like herself in this album was when one
minute she was thinking of breaking up with Mitch because he had too
many secrets. Then the next minute when Nick was trying to give her his
advice on the situation she was like: "Of course i trust him" and Nick
says, "but you were just saying..." then Connie says, "I know, but
things are different now!" That is totally Connie. She's a very bipolar
person.
One part of this episode that I thought was a bit "out of the blue" was
when Connie dyed her hair purple, or as she says, "raspberry chestnut"
but i guess we can expect some pretty "out of the blue" things from
Kathy Wierenga.
The episode was terrific but I saved my favorite part for last, Candid
Conversations with Connie. I think having Mitch on the show was a great
touch. I think Connie's "cluelessness" in the end was just like her.
When her and Mitch got into a fight, The whole time Mitch was kind of
hinting his love for her but "Clueless Connie" didn't realize it.
Finally Connie asks him to give her one good reason to trust him and he
says, "because i think I'm falling in love with you Connie!" I thought
that was very sweet and romantic. (The first time I heard this episode,
I just keep listening to that part over and over again because I thought
it was so sweet!)
