Answer Key
Answers are provided along with episode and album number from which questions were derived. Commentary is available for certain questions to give you sneak peek at the fun we experienced while grading responses... and the alterations we made when we sometimes discovered that our answers weren't the only answers.

Note: For a limited time, you may contact us to request your overall score on this trivia contest. We would be happy to let you know how you ranked!

1. For how much does Eleanor McAlister sell the land on which Whit's End is built?

Multiple answers accepted:
one hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125)
one hundred and fifty dollars ($150)    Treasures of the Heart - Album 16

Clarification:
We were actually looking for the sale price of the shoes. However, since we didn't specify whether we were looking for the regular or the sale price, we accepted both responses.

3. What is Jason's agent number?

1131    A Name, Not a Number - Album 22

two thousand dollars ($2,000)    No Bones About It - Album 30

Clarification: Several participants entered "$10,000
" as their answer. That was the price Bart eventually ended up paying, but it wasn't his first offer. He also offered $5000 and $6000 before ultimately paying $10,000.

We were specifically looking for The Nemesis, I as the answer, but accepted any answers which included The Nemesis.

12. What was the most recent episode in which Officer O'Ryan appears?

The Top Floor, II - Album 48

Clarification:
We were specifically looking for The Top Floor, II as the answer, but accepted any answers which included The Top Floor.

Multiple answers accepted:
4 hardware, 6 software; ten stores
    Second Thoughts - Album 21

We did not accept answers such as 6 hardware, 4 software as the numbers were flipped, deeming them incorrect. Some simply answered with a total of 10 stores, which is also correct.

a donkey    The Living Nativity - Album 16

23. What did Mitch put on his face after being hit in the face with a tennis racquet?

a frozen pizza    Secrets - Album 37

Clarification:
Pretty much everyone said frozen something in response to this question. We couldn't help but laugh when someone guessed "meat cleaver." Interesting sense of humor!

24. What kind of car does Mr. Lionel drive in Pokenberry Falls?

Multiple answers accepted:
He has a chaffeur, and the chaffeur drives a limo.
He does not drive himself around town.
a limousine    It's a Pokenberry Christmas, I - Album 31

Clarification:
Mr. Lionel does not drive a car in Pokenberry Falls, as far as we know. We accepted responses if contestants indicated that he rides in a limousine or does not drive himself around town.

a trailer    The Search for Whit, II - Album 27

26. How long did Brenda Perry spend getting ready for her pen pal to show up in Odyssey?

a week and a half    Blessings in Disguise - Album 27

Some entries came in with a set number of hours (EX: 2, 3), but we were looking for the total amount of time Brenda spent getting ready overall... and it was a week and a half!

27. How many years did Whit teach at a junior high school?

almost 13 years    Recollections - Album 1

28. What gift does Mandy give to her classmate Max?

Barry Muntz    Breaking Point - Album 36

32. At Christmas, Eugene reminisced that his childhood home always smell like what when he was a child

bathroom disinfectant    Peace on Earth - Album 3

Many people guessed artificially induced pine scent as their answer. Eugene actually said these words when he described the smell of Bernard's new pickup truck in Fifth House on the Left.

33. Name one Odyssey character (besides the Barclays) who was robbed.

Multiple answers accepted:
Bernard Walton    Chain Reaction - Album 34

Tom Riley    Greater Love, Album 18
The Washington Family    No Way Out/No Way In - Album 42
Wooton Bassett    The Highest Stakes, II - Album 49

Clarification: Apparently, asking this question didn't help us when we graded your entries. It seems as if everyone in Odyssey has been robbed in one way or another. Some were left with empty cash registers, some were held at gunpoint, some experienced a stolen college paper and computer files. Small town... higher crime than expected. Perhaps it is good that we didn't ask you to tell us who in Odyssey has been kidnapped?!

34. From which magazine does Eugene tell a joke about earthworms?

Biology Quarterly    A Good and Faithful Servant - Album 4

Clarification:
One contestant submitted Clubhouse as a response. We're pretty sure Eugene's a little too old to enjoy that publication as a child would. Another fun response was Worm Weekly. I guess worms gotta read, too?

35. What was the color of the folder that Robyn put her book report in?

black    Melanie's Diary - Album 10

Clarification:
The answer to this question is black. This one threw a lot of people off, but understandably so! Many people answered "red" because Robyn discovers her book report in the red folder while on stage. So while the book report was in the red folder, it was not placed in there by Robyn. The culprit? Melanie!

36. Which episode of BTV did Novacom watch to get a feel for the show before buying BTV?

"BTV: Forgiveness"    Nova Rising - Album 35

Clarification:
Several people suggested that "BTV: Patience" is the episode that the producers at Novacom viewed, though it is incorrect. The contestants who made it through the Ultimate Odyssey IQ Challenge apparently don't need to see that episode. However, an episode called "BTV: Plant Care" could really help Lawrence Hodges out in question #51.

37. According to Wooton, which president of the United States is known for having "a surprisingly long neck"

Calvin Coolidge    Back to Abnormal - Album 45

38. Who is the great great grandson of William Ross?

Carl Ross    The Underground Railroad, III - Album 24

Clarification:
It was all or nothing for this question. Both first and last name were required.

39. Which two characters in Odyssey have had blue hair?

Multiple answers accepted:
Charles Edward Thompson and Henry Thomas    The Bad Hair Day - Album 19
Erica Colburn    Under the Influences - Album 38

Clarification:
As disappointing as it may be, Connie never had blue hair. Quite a few of our contestants guessed Connie as one of the answers as they were probably remembering that Connie dyed her hair at one point. Raspberry chestnut and blue are two completely different colors. We ended up accepting Erika Colburn as an answer as well. Even though the episode doesn't specifically state that Erika had blue hair, Aubrey Shepard describes it as "patriotic." Thus, we can assume that Erika's hair was at least partly blue.

We were strict with this question. It was either both names or no credit at all. If Erika was given as a response, it had to be coupled with Charles or Henry as well.

40. What dessert did Monica Stone bring to dinner?

cheesecake    Sheep's Clothing - Album 38

41. Who waxes the stage floor of the Harlequin Theatre?

Clean Sweep Floor Service    The Merchant of Odyssey - Album 28

Clarification:
Many people guessed Bart Rathbone as the culprit who waxed the stage floor at the Harlequin Theatre. However, he never actually waxed the floor himself. Bart, in fact, hired the Clean Sweep Floor Service to do his dirty work for him!

42. Which soft drink did Connie drink during her visit to California?

Coke    Connie, II - Album 3

43. Who suggested to Katrina that she needs to show public displays of affection to Eugene?

Connie Kendall    Wrapped Around Your Finger - Album 31

44. Who admitted that she used to talk to herself in the third person when she was stressed out?

Connie Kendall    Life, in the Third Person - Album 49

Specification:
Some contestants guessed Mandy Straussberg, but the episode distinctly features Connie admitting that she "used to" talk to herself in the third person when she was "stressed out."

45. Who introduced Bill Kendall to Lindsay?

Multiple answers accepted:
Connie's Aunt Helen, her aunt, Bill's sister    Emotional Baggage - Album 10

Clarification: Connie also has an Aunt Beatrice, but that's all we know about her at this point. Some guessed Connie's cousin, but we had to reject that guess.

46. What did Wooton notice on the Washingtons' back porch when Marvin and Tamika were drinking coffee

creamer    The Mailman Cometh - Album 41

47. Who was a mentor to Eugene Meltsner's father?

five years    It's Not Fair! - Album 6

51. What did Lawrence Hodges destroy in the Barclays' front yard?

flower pots    Our Father - Album 17

Clarification:
The Barclays' mailbox was a good guess for some, but perhaps Lawrence would benefit from an episode of "BTV: Plant Care" as we mentioned before?

52. What are the names of Eugene's foster parents?

Multiple answers accepted:
Frank and Maddie Burnette, The Burnettes    Dead Ends - Album 46

53. Who does Zachary Sellars push into a volcano?

Glenn Adams    Do, for a Change - Album 26

Clarification:
Surprisingly, one contestant told us that Michael Jackson was pushed into the volcano! It wasn't plastic surgery after all!

54. What is the name of the individual pretending to be Max Hampton?

Grady McKay    Tuesdays with Wooton - Album 44

55. What is the name of the piano piece Danny plays at the talent show?

"Green Leaves Are Falling"    The Secret Keys of Discipline - Album 20

Clarification:
As far as we know, Robyn Jacobs is the only kid in Odyssey who knows how to play Fur Elise, as evidenced in The Treasure of LeMonde. It was a good guess though. Greensleeves was a fun guess, but out there. Nice try. Also, we received different variations of the actual answer, but we were looking for Green Leaves Are Falling, specifically.

56. Which store sells glass ballerina figurines?

Greenblatt's Department Store    All's Well with Boswell - Album 8

57. What Odyssey store did Issac Morton sell many of his possessions to?

Hamstrung's Junk Shop    Isaac the Pure - Album 13

58. Who causes Connie to cut her finger?

Harlow Doyle    It's a Wrap! - Album 28

59. The Smith-Hammer family lived in the former house of which Hollywood star?

Hip Hopson    The Fifth House on the Left, I - Album 21

Clarification:
It made us chuckle when we learned that someone submitted Hip Hootson as an answer, the same Hip Hootson that Kelsey Smith-Hammer mentioned in The Fifth House on the Left when referencing a carving on a tree in the front yard. We also received Tom Cruise as an answer!

60. What did Jason Whittaker give to Lucy Schultz before she went to spy on the Bones of Wrath at the Odyssey bowling alley?

his cell phone number    Checkmate - Album 25

61. What is the password to Eugene's voicemail?

his favorite prime number    A New Era, II - Album 49

Clarification:
Katrina was a good guess for some, since Eugene once kept a digital journal named "Katrina, Etc." Unfortunately, we couldn't except it or Season Felicitations, either.

62. Which two kids first discover the Bible Room?

Multiple answers accepted:
Jack Davis and Lucy Cunningham-Schultz    Return to the Bible Room - Album 2
Philo Sanderson and Sylvia    It Started with a Rabbit's Foot... - Album 20 (also Gotcha! - Unreleased episode)

Clarification:
The answer we were looking for is Jack Davis and Lucy Cunningham-Schultz (or different variations to their names). However, the first two kids in Odyssey to see the Bible Room were Philo Sanderson and Sylvia (among unnamed others), as depicted in It Started with a Rabbit's Foot (a scene spliced into the episode from an unreleased show, Gotcha!). Both answers (as well as combinations of the two) are deemed correct.

63. Who told Connie to hit a paper mâché version of Mitch?

Jared DeWhite    Eggshells - Album 42

Clarification:
No, June Kendall is the one who actually hit the paper mâché Mitch, not the one who recommended that people do it. She doesn't consider herself to be a violent person, either.

64. What are the full names of the two blind children in Odyssey?

Both answers necessary to be correct:
Jenny Roberts    The Perfect Witness, I - Album 23
Lisa Mulligan    In All Things Give Thanks - Album 32

Clarification:
Both names were required for credit on this question. It is interesting to note that one contestant submitted Lisa Halls Johnson in hopes of getting credit. Ironically, Lisa Halls Johnson wrote two episodes of Adventures in OdysseyBlind Girl's Bluff and one other.

65. What is the name of the employee Lucy spoke with at the Calvin Bloom Company?

Multiple answers accepted:
Jim Norton, Marjorie Sadler    Muckraker - Album 11

Clarification:
Some contestants guessed Marjorie Sadler, when, in fact, Jim Norton is the current employee Lucy met with at the Calvin Bloom Company's physical location. We accepted Marjorie Sadler as an answer as she was a former employee and may have been a cause for confusion. And no, Lucy didn't speak with Donald Trump.

66. Name one Odyssey character who has gone down the slide at Trickle Lake during an AIO episode.

Multiple answers accepted:
Jimmy Barclay, Mary Barclay    Our Best Vacation Ever - Album 5

Clarification:
Ironically, someone guessed that Agnes Riley went down the slide at Trickle Lake. Now we'd like to see that!

67. Who did Aubrey Shepard reveal her middle name to?

John Avery Whittaker    Opening Day - Album 33

68. Wooton showed Whit and Jack Allen a cancelled stamp from which state?

Kentucky    Plan B: Crossfire - Album 37

Clarification: We received a few responses with Alaska as the answer, so we assume people thought it was a good answer because Wooton is from Alaska. One entry came in with Canada as the state. Hmmm.

69. Who dropped Marsha's purse at church?

Kevin    Preacher's Kid - Album 23

70. What drink did Connie order at the fast food restaurant after picking up Jason from the airport?

lemonade    For Whom the Wedding Bells Toll, II - Album 29

71. For which sport did Connie receive an award when she was growing up?

Multiple answers accepted:
little league baseball    First Love - Album 8
table tennis (not specifically stated that she won an award, but an acceptable answer)    Secrets - Album 37

Clarification:
We also accepted ping-pong and Little League Softball as answers because they are synonyms for the same sports, although they are not specifically mentioned. We did not accept tennis as an answer as it is completely different from table tennis.

72. What is the name of Edwin Blackgaard's thespian rival?

Malcolm Lear    The Taming of the Two - Album 40

Clarification:
A variety of responses were given for this question. Some guessed Rosencrantz Guildenstern and others guessed Duncan Banquo. Neither answers are technically "thespian" rivals. For example, Mr. Guildenstern is the most important theatre critic in the tri-states area, while Duncan Banquo is a critic who periodically reviews Edwin Blackgaard's plays.

73. During a rehearsal of Connie's first play, Eugene received a phone call. Who was it?

Multiple answers accepted:
Morty Moscowitz or "Mortimor", Campbell College Computer Club, the college/university    Scattered Seeds - Album 7

Clarification:
Because of the scene depicted, several guesses were accepted as answers. However, we were originally hoping Morty Moscowitz or "Mortimor" would be the majority answer. It's interesting to point out that the Morty Moscowitz in Scattered Seeds shares the same first and last name with another Morty Moscowitz who appears as the owner of Moscowitz's Haberdashery eleven episodes later in Curious, Isn't It? Could this be two different men, or does Morty Moscowitz have has hands in a lot of projects?

Also many contestants submitted Katrina Shanks as the one who called, but this episode took place long before Katrina's arrival in Odyssey.

74. What is the name of Jared DeWhite's teddy bear?

Mr. Bobo    Not-So-Trivial Pursuits - Album 32

75. What is Blackbeard's real name?

Ned Tatch    Blackbeard's Treasure - Album 22

76. At what building did Doris and Bart Rathbone find a copy of Eugene's paycheck stub?

Odyssey Bank    The One About Trust, I - Album 29

Clarification:
Some guesses came pouring in that this actually took place at Whit's End. To clarify, Eugene's paycheck stub was found at the Odyssey Bank and Connie's was later retrieved in the dumpster at Whit's End. Leave it to the Rathbones to create a mess.

77. What restaurant does Connie try to recreate in an attempt to bring her mom and dad back together?

Papa Luigi's    Father's Day - Album 14

Clarification:
Several people ventured to guess that Whit's End is the restaurant Connie tried to recreate. Whit's End is actually a discovery emporium, and it isn't in California, either. If you recall, the episode reveals that Papa Luigi's is located in California. Whit's End was merely the location in which Connie recreated the restaurant (in the upstairs!).

78. When Whit gave his grandson dinner, he suggested that he eat pizza with an alternative of what other dinner option?

Multiple answers accepted:
peanut butter and jelly sandwich, sandwiches    A Member of the Family, I - Album 1

79. What three colors did the orthodontist paint Lawrence's braces?

red, white, and blue    Subject Yourself - Album 24

80. Who made an audition tape for "America's Funniest Explosions"?

Rodney Rathbone    Green Eyes and Yellow Tulips - Album 36

82. Nick Mulligan told Whit and Connie to do what when his friend Vince visited from New York?

Multiple answers accepted:
no small talk ("don't talk about his family friends, hobbies, clothes, the weather, religion, or anything that has to do with positive feelings like love, pleasure or happiness")
do not be friendly
do not ignore him
just say "hey" and nod; nothing else    The Bad Guy - Album 34

Clarification:
The multiplicity of responses given surprised us with this question. It was tough to judge some of them, but when it came down to it, we had to ask ourselves, Did Nick Mulligan say that? With that as our guide, we had to turn down a lot of the creative answers. Some of the creative responses we received: "to be rude," "watch to make sure he didn't steal anything," "lay low," "smile," "not say anything," "stay out of the way," and so on. You get the idea. We gave credit as long as a minimum of one of the above correct answers were provided.

83. The skylight in Whit's office is made of what kind of glass?

smoked glass (Jack Allen describes it), frosted glass    A Victim of Circumstance - Album 23

Clarification: We also accepted frosted glass as it means virtually the same thing. However, the word smoked is specifically stated in A Victim of Circumstance.

84. When Jason Whittaker's car broke down during a thunderstorm, he stayed with a woman named Amy and a boy named Josh. What did they have for dinner?

soup    Best Laid Plans - Album 35

Clarification:
Several submissions came in with hot chocolate as an answer. Unfortunately, soup was on the menu for dinner that night. Amy just happened to ask Jason if he wanted some hot chocolate.

85. Which town was the winner of the Best Small Town contest?

Sunshine Beach    Rights, Wrongs, and Winners - Album 50

Clarification:
Some submissions came in with Odyssey as the winner of the Best Small Town Contest. If that were so, Wooton would no longer live in Odyssey.

86. Eugene and Katrina used to regularly sit at which specific table number in a local Odyssey restaurant?

Table 37    A Little Credit, Please - Album 25

87. Which building was Bernard cleaning when he fell off the scaffolding?

the Chatwick house    Room Mates - Album 12

88. Where did Edwin Blackgaard's first performance in Odyssey take place?

Multiple answers accepted:
the gazebo in McAlister Park, McAlister park, the park    Double Trouble - Album 15

89. In what building did Bernard accept the "Golden Squeegee Award"?

The Odyssey Conference Center    The Conscientious Cross-Guard - Album 13

90. Which Odyssey family received a copy of Bart Rathbone's toupee catalog in the mail?

the Washington family    The Family Next Door - Album 47

91. In what place does Sam Johnson finish in the Academic Olympics?

third place    W-O-R-R-Y - Album 26

Clarification:
A couple people took the word place literally and guessed Odyssey Middle School or the school. We could not accept either response. If we had asked, "IN what place does Sam FINISH the Academic Olympics?", then we would be able to accept a literal place. Also, if The Golden Squeegee Award Place existed, we'd give it to you. But no.

92. How many sundaes did Marvin eat while working at Whit's End?

three    Switch - Album 46

93. For what purpose did Whit order blue and ivory paint?

to paint the shed behind Whit's End    Let This Mind Be in You - Album 4

Clarification:
Ignorantly, Eugene repainted the Bible room with blue and ivory paint. Whit's intention to paint the shed out back did not include the Bible room, although some contestants thought so.

94. Who plugged in the television when Whit brought a TV down to the soda shop to show everyone a commercial?

Tom Riley    Stars in Our Eyes - Album 43

95. Who has a fear of public speaking?

Multiple answers accepted:
Trent DeWhite, Abel McAlister    Called On in Class - Album 42

96. What percentage of Novacom employees were laid off?

up to 65%    The Benefit of the Doubt - Album 39

97. What is the name of the company that produces Novacom's black boxes?

Veil Industries    The Black Veil, II - Album 38

Clarification:
Some people guessed Andromeda, but this answer was unaccepted as the company had nothing to do with the production of the black box. We probably should have asked, What is the name of the company that produces the black boxes?, because Novacom wasn't really involved with those. Yet, when the Novabox shows up in Odyssey, we still learn that Novacom's Novabox is produced by Veil Industries. Thus, we could never accept Andromeda as an acceptable answer even if we wanted to. Besides, the majority of guesses were the correct answer.

98. In which episode does Whit visit a family and apologize on behalf of Connie and Eugene?

War of the Words - Album 20

99. Who is Jack Davis's favorite playwright?

William Shakespeare    Double Trouble - Album 15

Clarification:
Marshal Younger would be so proud if he was Jack Davis's favorite! Good guess, but not even close.

100. What is Bernard Walton's primary form of exercise?

window washing (Bernard's words: "up and down with a ladder, right and left with a squeegee")    Do Or Diet - Album 41

Clarification:
Assuming contestants actually made it to this question alive, it was surprising to see how many people referenced Bernard's words: "up and down with a ladder, right and left with a squeegee." One person even submitted walking to the fridge as an answer, but we had to reject it. Now that's good mental exercise... and making it through the Ultimate Odyssey IQ Challenge was too!
