The First Snowflake
By Evie Misiak
A snowflake drops and a cardinal sings,
A snowman stands there and a church bell rings.
The horses gallop and play in the snow,
While the children inside hang their stockings in
a row.
The burning hot chocolate burns my tongue
A Christmas Carol plays so I start to hum.
I get up and take the reddest apple,
Then head outside to see Dill and Dapple.
I fed the apple to the four legged creatures
Then looked up at the sky then back to their
features.
Always remember dear colt and sweet mare
The first snowflake that drops for you to share.
Then, so softly and quietly,
I see one of those delicate snowflakes slip from
the cold crisp sky.
