Why
did AIO take all the old characters off, but left Rodney on? I love his
character but he has been in middle/high school for like 10 years now... -

It's
nice to make your acquaintance, Jen! In answer to your question, I'm not
entirely sure. Rodney Rathbone is just one of those characters that never
grows up, yet manages to fit into the series just fine. If you didn't
already know, Rodney is played by an actor that had already matured and
grown up before the audio series began, so the voice you hear is the voice
you get. Rodney didn't need to worry about his voice changing in the middle
of the series, fortunately, because it had already changed!
Steve
Burns has an adaptable voice, one that remains constant, yet can change
over time.
In regards to all the old
characters, they were dropped from the series for the reason Rodney Rathbone
wasn't. It was obvious when a character reached the teenage years, and while
teenagers do listen to Adventures in Odyssey (look at me!), the
series is geared for ages 8 and up. It used to be 8 to 12, but AIO decided
to update their target audience when they found out parents were listening
too.
And if you're curious as to
why Rodney's still in high school... why do you think?
