In one of the "Odyssey Scrapbook" shorts, Chris said that Donna and Jimmy were named after their actors, but Azure Janosky and David Griffin played Donna and Jimmy. What's up with that? -Submitted by Madison

I believe you're just a little confused, Madison. That's okay though. I tend to confuse myself about a lot of things. In reality, Azure Janosky and David Griffin have nothing to do with the whole recipe. Chris was referring to the movie It's a Wonderful Life which stars Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. Jimmy Stewart played George Bailey and Donna Reed played Mary Bailey. So from that we can deduct the following:

  • The Barclay last name is a reference to the last name 'Bailey' from It's a Wonderful Life.
  • Mary Barclay's character stems from Mary Bailey on It's a Wonderful Life.
  • George Barclay's character comes from George Bailey on It's a Wonderful Life.
  • Jimmy Barclay refers to the first name of Jimmy Stewart.
  • Donna Barclay refers to the first name Donna Reed.
  • When AIO introduced the new baby of the family, the 'Stewart' and 'Reed' were combined to create the name 'Steward Reed.'

Thus, we have a confusing little mix that all fits together to pay a tribute to one of the best-loved Christmas films of all time. I hope this information helps you, Madison. It may also interest you that Pokenberry Falls, R.F.D. and It's a Pokenberry Christmas are ironic tributes to It's a Wonderful Life as well.
