About Me
Hi there all you
Adventures in
Odyssey fans! The Odyssey Scoop has been around for quite a while now,
and it's only fair that I reveal some
information about myself.
I am
currently 22 years old, working on my first of two senior years at
Pensacola Christian College. It's been a rough journey so far, but I can see
the light at the end of the tunnel. It's a pretty long tunnel. I spent my
freshman and sophomore years studying Broadcasting and realized that I
didn't like it. Next, I changed my major to Advertising/Public Relations. I
had enough credits accumulated for Broadcasting, so it only made sense to
keep it as a minor. The Advertising/Public Relations has a built in Graphic
Design minor, which placed me at two minors. And, after discovering I would
be at college just a year longer, I had some credit space to fill and tacked
on a third minor, Web Development. As I said, the tunnel is very long!
Adventures in Odyssey
Yes, I am
obviously a huge Adventures in
Odyssey fan. I have all the albums: every last one. I must admit that I'm not too fond of the AIO videos,
though I do own a copy of them. I also
own all the book series, for collector's sake.
The reason I am maintaining The Odyssey Scoop
is because I just find it fun to create websites and let people know about certain things.
What I like doing best on my website is writing Reviews, writing the
Extra!
Extra! section, and updating the daily updates each day. I love getting new AIO news to post for people. It's also fun to receive e-mails from
people I don't even know, and to read the encouraging feedback I receive.
Aside from being a major AIO fan, I also like
"Focus on the Family Radio Theatre." I especially like "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis
that Focus on the Family dramatized so well.
Founding the Odyssey Scoop
It began with an idea. I wanted to begin
tinkering around with website design, and I knew nothing about it. I
mentioned my idea to my cousin, who helped me decide on the name: The
Odyssey Scoop. And it rang. From there, I pieced the basics of the site
together, adding new things weekly. To this day, it amazes me how far the
site has come, and I'm sometimes shocked when I peruse the site for fun. If
you'd like to read a very in-depth analysis of how the site was founded,
you'll have to click here
to read it. I answered a fan's question at the FAQ section several years
ago, which is quite interesting. And now I consider this website as both a
hobby and ministry to all of you.
Hobbies
Amazingly enough, I do have a life outside
of The Odyssey Scoop. I enjoy writing,
designing websites, eating (you wouldn't believe how skinny I
really am--I am just one of those kinds of people who can eat anything and not get
overweight), reading, listening to radio dramas (you already knew that already), and being with
friends.
I mentioned that I enjoy designing
websites. I've done work for "Time Ministries," a ministry that travels the
globe and ministers through music. I also designed the basic layout for my
high school's website, which is still used today. Not only that, I put
together a website for my church. Currently, I am designing a website
stixhuff.com, which will provide music helps, tutorials, etc. More detailed
information about these site projects can be found on my website,
jacobisom.org (click 'Projects').
My sister, cousin, and I started a drama
series several years ago called "The Love and... Chronicles." It's a cute
series about two sweethearts, Jon and Marsha, who seem to fall in love in
humorous ways. Each episode is about 10 minutes each. You'd be surprised at
how quality they are for amateur producers! We finished four all
together, and they're
called "Love and War," "Love and a Jungle Treehouse," "Love
and Addicting Over-the-Counter Drugs" (actually the name doesn't fit because
Marsha meets Jon when she is looking at a bottle of cough syrup and it isn't
about being addicted to drugs, thank God), and "Love and the Haunted Clock
Tower." We also started two more called "Love and the Revolt of the Poultry"
and "Love and the Cardboard Box," but we got too bored to finish. Also, we
created a short-lived radio drama series called "Tracer Bullet, Private
Eye," which was a step up from our former experiences in radio drama. Both
series can be here over at the Sound Clips
section, so go listen if you haven't already!
Concluding Thoughts
To wrap it all up, I
have to say that I hope that AIO continues in the future and may God use it for the good
of others. AIO has certainly been
influential in my life, and there's no doubt the same is true for countless
others.

The
Dog
Yes,
as do a lot of people, we have a dog. Her name is Missy. Missy was the runt of her litter
back on April 30th, 1998 when she was born. Being a miniature Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog),
she tends to be nervous when someone rings our doorbell. She also draws lots of attention
from people because she's so cute! She thinks she's a great watchdog, but when someone
knocks or rings the doorbell, Missy's first action is to bark and she dives under my
parents' bed. What a sissy! We still love her though... who couldn't?!

Missy
is in her pose for the camera. It seems as if she tries to be cute because she sits
so daintily sometimes. It's not a surprise that she's spoiled because she has total run of
the house and sleeps under my parents' bed at night. (Click image for

This
is what happens to a spoiled pet. First they're sleeping under the
bed, next thing you know they're wearing clothes. (Click image for

This
is when Missy looked similar to a cat, had very little fur, and used
the restroom on the floor quite often. (Click

Some
people insist that they can sing. Good thing she's a dog, otherwise
someone would have screamed. (Click image for larger view) |
