"The Odyssey Scoop" - Sound Clips: "News With Brink Chetley"

Summary

The News With Brink Chetley teaser was released on the website in October 2001. At the beginning of September 2001, a design change was badly needed and the current design was becoming unneeded and worn out. To be released on November 10, 2001, the new design followed a basic red layout with black background. This was the point in time that new sections such as Interviews, AIO FAQ, and Actors & Crew debuted on the website. Along with the new sections came the popular AIO Wheel of Fortune game which is still quite popular among AIO fans. News With Brink Chetley was intended to tease the listener and prepare them for the "grand re-opening."

Behind the Scenes

Creating the voice of Brink Chetley was a tough cookie. Jacob Isom, the only producer and voiceover for this sound clip, recorded his lines separately and later mixed everything together as if it was a news report. Unfortunately, synthesizing a voice on a computer doesn't allow many choices, so the voice you hear is the voice you get. Sarah Pratchet's voice was not tricky to synthesize because of her pleasing debut appearance in Sarah Pratchet Update.

Did You Know?

If you listen closely, the voice of Brink Chetley sounds very similar to the voice of Jacob Isom. Just imagine faster speaking and a higher tone of voice and there he is!
