The Love
and...CHRONICLES: Epic
Tales of Love and Friendship
Before there were soap operas, there was The
Love and...CHRONICLES. Well, not really, but it's an impressive way to
start off a paragraph. Acting strange is what Jon Dinkleberry and Marsha
Jonworthy, the two stars of The Love and...CHRONICLES, do best.
They may be strange, but they sure know how to fall in love within the
boundaries of a fifteen minute audio drama.
So where did it all begin? During the
late 1990's, my cousin, my sister, and I became interested in putting
together an audio drama that the entire family could enjoy. So, with a
microphone and a top-of-the-line stereo in hand, the three of us got to
work. Within hours our first drama, Love and War, was completed. To
this day, the three of us agree that the premier episode featured the best
narration. Since we enjoyed creating Love and War so much, the
three of us created three more dramas within the next year. Love and a
Jungle Treehouse was written and completed within a month, and our
first musical, Love and Addicting Over-the-Counter Drugs, debuted
next. Unfortunately, we were young and had a lot to learn about grammar
[look at the title and you'll see why]. In the summer months we decided to
aim for quality and put together Love and the Haunted Clock Tower.
The closing line at the end was a dedication to my father's clock
business: "If your clock only rings once a year, then you need help
from an expert. Call Isom's Clock Repair; we won't tick you off."
Needless to say, the three of us
thoroughly enjoyed producing these dramas, as embarrassing they may be. I
became enthusiastic about our new production team and began sending
newsletters from The Kisses (our production team) to family and
friends. When the cost became too high, e-mail was the next option. We
will not go into that or I may bring back too many negative memories. I
took the initiative to create a special Kisses Book of Memories
with episode scripts, behind-the-scenes information, and other random
things.
After about a year, we tried our hands at
another Kisses drama, Love and the Revolt of the Poultry,
around Thanksgiving. However, we soon realized that we had lost our
creative style in the area of Jon and Marsha. We never finished that
episode. Our hands were clasped tightly to our soon-forgotten legacy as we
tried writing an episode called Love and the Cardboard Box. This
was a last attempt to bring Jon and Marsha together one last time. It was
never finished either.
So, looking back, many good memories were
created during our Kisses days. We partook in many laughs and
bloopers. The legacy lives on, however, your nerves may be on edge.

all about? Several years ago, I posted the four completed dramas on the
