Reviews: "In His Steps" Re-told
Recent Odyssey Novel Explores The Meaning of
Obedience

The Stranger's Message,
the eleventh Adventures in Odyssey novel, retells the classic story
of people who commit to doing "only what Jesus would do" in any given
situation they face. Based on the 100-year-old In His Steps, by
Charles Sheldon, The Stranger's Message "Odyssey-izes" that story by
showing the impact such a decision has on Whit, Lucy, Jack and others at
Whit's End. Each unexpectedly finds themselves at odds with teachers,
administrators, friends and bullies as they struggle to maintain the essence
of Christianity in their ethics, decisions and behavior. Though some may
find the character of the stranger is a little unsettling, the book is an
engaging exploration of faith and obedience no matter what the cost. I give
it a hearty thumbs-up and recommend it for entire families to read and
discuss.
