Margaret
Faye elected mayor uncontested
Considering the intense debates and rivalries
for the office of mayor in past election seasons, this year's mayoral race
went by without so much as a single television commercial or campaign sign.
Current mayor Margaret Faye ran for the office again unchallenged and will
continue as mayor.
"I think that the fact that no one opposed me this year shows that people
are happy with how this town has been running," said Faye. "Opportunities
have been opening for people all over the place and I think that fresh
leadership has been at least partially responsible for that."
There were rumors in the early summer that Bart Rathbone would run for mayor
for a fourth time, but the rumors proved to be unfounded. "While I'm not
very happy with how that Margaret person is running things, I decided that I
would give people at least another few years with her before they beg me to
run for office again," said Rathbone. He further stated that he was
currently too busy making the Electric Palace the "great store that its
always been" to leave it behind. "I'm also offering 'Rathbone for Mayor'
bumper stickers personally signed by myself this week only when you purchase
$60 of select electronics."
