A Day in the Life of Travis Tedford!

By Travis Tedford

I'm sure you can all imagine the stress that comes with being an actor. Countless hours of burning the midnight oil to perfect the way you perform on stage. Well this time, "Extra Extra" has gone behind the scenes with one of Adventures in Odyssey's most recent child characters, Alex Jefferson (Travis Tedford at least). What follows is exactly what Travis has to say. No words have been changed or taken out, although it is grammar checked. The Odyssey Scoop has the scoop on Travis!

"My day usually begins at 6:30 in the morning. I get up and stumble down the hall to be greeted by my cockatiel. I taught him to say "Nibble Gibble" every morning to me. After my dad wakes up we go on a 2 mile walk. After we get back I usually eat-- what my dad calls-- a "power breakfast." It consists of peaches, bananas, and apples. After I'm done washing up I get ready for my audition by going over my lines.

I found out that a brain is like a muscle. People wonder how I learn nine pages of lines. Well all you have to do is practice and you start learning lines quicker and quicker! After I'm done going over my lines I go and pick out what I am going to wear for my audition and the day. Usually my agent tells me what kind of clothes to wear. After I'm done I start to go over my lines and make sure that I know them by heart. My mom takes a while to get ready herself so that's when I answer my fan mail. I like answering fan mail, it can be tough sometimes but it's really cool to get fan mail from Germany, Italy, and even France! Sometimes they ask for pictures or they just want to talk to me and ask me stuff about being an actor.

After I'm done answering my fan mail my mom is ready. The most boring part of an audition is THE DRIVE. I wish I could say "Beam me up, Scotty" and I would be there! Sometimes getting to one audition takes an hour. When I get there I go in and find where I need to go because the audition waiting room could be in room 42 on floor 4 and you might come in from an underground parking lot! After I find the audition room I sign in. The sign in sheet looks like a big graph; you just fill it in. After you sign in you sit down and wait. It's a good idea to go over your lines again. You may think you know it but when you get in the room it's different. A casting director or someone will come out and call your name, and that's when you go in. When you get in the room, if it's an audition there are about 2 people in the room. If it's a callback there is about 3 or 4 people. Most people ask me if I get scared or shy, but to tell the truth, I never do. It's just natural.

When you go in you will probably sit down or you might stand up. It doesn't really matter. There might be a camera inside. If there is you never look into it. Before you do your lines they ask some questions. They might ask, how long I've been acting and if I have any questions. Then I do the audition and I'm out, and I don't give it another thought. Since this is pretty long you can see that an audition is more than just doing lines, it's a lot of work. After I'm done I go home and eat. If I'm really hungry I go to my favorite fast food place, Carls Jr.

Once I get home I sit down and relax from a very exhausting day, or I go swimming, or go next door and hang out with my friends. (You're lucky that I'm not in school or this would be really long and BORING.)"

As you can see, Travis Tedford has a lot to think about in his usual acting day. In our contacts he mentioned that he isn't stressed out by his busy day. So if you ever take up acting, it may (or may not be) stressful. It would be for me!
